The vortex flowmeter is based on the Karman vortex principle, mainly manifested by setting up non streamlined vortex generators (resistive fluids) in the flowing fluid, and alternately generating two columns of regular vortices from both sides of the vortex generators. Widely applicable to the measurement and control of superheated steam, saturated steam, compressed air, general gases, water, and liquids in industries such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, thermal, textile, and papermaking. Vortex flowmeters that are in long-term stable operation may also experience malfunctions during operation. The reasons for such malfunctions include the following:

1、 Damage caused by impurities in the medium

After long-term work, the dirt in the fluid adheres and deposits on the inner wall of the measuring tube, the surface of the generator, the inner wall of the instrument converter, the surface of the generator, and the surface of the detection element, changing the geometric size parameters of the measuring tube and generator, increasing the measurement error of the instrument, reducing the sensitivity of the detection element, decreasing the signal amplitude, and causing the failure of the detection element.

2、 Failure of inspection side components and electronic components

After prolonged operation, some electronic components may reach their lifespan and fail, leading to instrument malfunctions.

3、 Environmental reasons

The long-term erosion of corrosive gases and moisture in the environment can cause a decrease in the insulation resistance of detection components, as well as corrosion of some electronic components, wiring terminals, and grounding terminals, resulting in an increase in contact resistance of connectors and attenuation of transmitted signals.

4、 Lightning damage

It is common for on-site instruments to be damaged by lightning strikes during thunderstorm seasons. Lightning strikes in transmission lines can induce instantaneous high-voltage spikes and strong surge currents, causing breakdown or burning of electronic components in converters. This type of lightning strike is mainly introduced through power and signal lines.

No matter what form of malfunction, first identifying the cause of the malfunction and then treating it accordingly can definitely achieve twice the result with half the effort. Secondly, paying attention to maintenance and upkeep in daily use can greatly improve efficiency.

The development of the instrumentation industry and technological breakthroughs in the instrumentation industry cannot be separated from the support and efforts of various instrumentation manufacturers
